Busy Weekend for Major Atoms
1 Win & 2 ties!

Sept 22 2007
Lambton Sting home to the Hamilton Reps

The Sting came out hard and controlled the first period of play and were rewarded with the first goal of the game from Dillon Saunders, assisted by Jeffrey Williams. In the second, Hamilton tied it up at one, despite Lambton's pressure. The third period proved to be a nail biter when Hamilton scores but the Sting respond and tie it up with the goal going to Marco DiFederico, assisted by Adam Craievich and Sam McCormack. Hamilton would score once again with their 2nd power play goal at 9:38 to take a 3-2 lead. With only 43.8 seconds left in the third and on a power play the coach pulls the goalie and Jeffrey Williams ties it up - assists went to Dillon Saunders and Adam Craievich. Looking like the game would end in a tie, and with only 19 seconds left in the game, Zach Van Eyk sets up Adam Craievich for the game winner. What a finish boys!

Sept. 23, 2007
Double header in Windsor

The first game versus Jr. Spitfires was a chippy game.  Lambton opened the scoring with a goal from Sam McCormack, assisted by Dillon Saunders and Marco DiFederico.  In the second period, Windsor tied the game up and the Sting responded with one of their own, scored by Adam Craievich, assisted by Drew Morgan and Tyler Drury.  The Spitfires came back with two more goals to end the second.  In the third, the game became quite physical with many penalties assessed against both teams.  With the clock ticking down, and the Sting shorthanded, Corey Lucier scores the tying goal with 20 seconds left.  Assisting on the goal was Sam McCormack.  The game ended in a 3-3 tie.  Great goaltending came from Cole Lauzon and Brendan Johnston who shared the netminding duties.

The second game of the day was against Sun County Panthers.  No scoring occurred in the first period.   In the second period, Tim Kaldeway shot the puck just to the right of the net off the back boards and picked up his own rebound to bury it behind the Sun County goalie.  Sun County came back to tie the game.  Not to be outdone, Dillon Saunders scores assisted by McCormack and Callahan Doughty.  A scramble in front of Sun County's net resulted in their defenceman covering the puck in the crease.  Lambton was awarded a penalty shot, taken by Sam McCormack.  In the third period, Sun County scores two, to move ahead by a goal.   We know not to count out these boys,  because Adam Craievich ties the game with 4:38 left on the clock.  Assists went to Drew Morgan and Callahan Doughty.  Another 3-3 tie!

The next game will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29th in Waterloo.
