Toronto Titans Tournament
December 26 - 27, 2007

Over the Christmas break the Lambton Jr. Sting Midget's took part in the Toronto Titans Showcase Tournament in Scarborough.  Going into the tournament the Sting figured to be in a tough draw facing the 2nd, 6th and 15th ranked midget teams in Ontario, as well as a Mississauga Senators team that defeated the Jr. Sting in overtime in the final of the Golden Blade tournament.  The Sting were also missing Joey Burt and captain Jordan Hurst for the week.  Collin Epps played on a call up from the AA team.
 Dec. 26th

Lambton 4- Missisauga Senators 0
In the first game the Jr. Sting looked to avenge the loss in the final to the Missisauga Senators earlier in the year and grabbed the lead just 1:55 into the game on a goal by Jesse Drydak.  Colten Jamieson added to the lead in the second period with a nice redirect on a pass from Ryan Hunt off the rush.  Darby MacKinnon and Drydak added insurance markers in the third period while Jordan Gladwish was perfect in net for the shutout win.  MacKinnon, Nick Lajoie, Hunt, Drydak, and Zack MacQueen (2) added assists in the game.

Grey-Bruce Highlanders 3- Lambton 1
In the second game of the day on Boxing Day the Jr. Sting suffered from a short bench and "turkey legs" and were outhustled by the Grey-Bruce Highlanders.  Jesse Drydak got the lone goal with assists going to Matt Morden and Zack MacQueen.  Matt Stirling was the tough luck loser in a 3-1 final leaving the Jr. Sting at 1-1 for the tourny.

Dec. 27th

Lambton 4- Mississauga Reps 2

On the 27th the Jr. Sting woke up with fresh legs and a renewed sense of urgency.  Mississauga sent 3 teams to the tournament and Lambton looked to knock off the 2nd of them.

It took awhile but Colten Jamieson started the scoring halfway through the first with a tip in off a Rory Keane point shot.  When the Reps tied the game in the second Lambton refocused with Jesse Drydak and Zack MacQueen scoring early in the third and Nick Kozmin putting the final nail in a 4-1 Lambton victory.  Jordan Gladwish was steady again earning the victory.

Ajax Pickering Raiders 4- Lambton 1

With 1 game left in the round robin and a record of 2-1 all that stood in the way of Lambton advancing to the elimination round was a victory over the Ajax-Pickering Raiders.  The Raiders entered action with a record of 27-2 for the year and are currently ranked #2 in Ontario.  The Raiders were too much to overcome however losing a 4-1 decision with Jesse Drydak scoring the lone marker.  Matt Stirling played well in defeat but received no support in the way of goals for the entire weekend.

With the loss Lambton finished 2-2 and one point out of the playoff round.  The Jr. Sting will take some valuable lessons away from the tournament and look to rebound in a game with 2nd place Windsor Jr. Spitfires on Dec. 30th.
