The Lambton AAA Jr Sing
Minor Atom hosted the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs in
their first exhibition match of the season.
Both teams came out hungry with the Chiefs jumping
out to a one goal lead early on, only to have the
Sting tie things up right after and with a few
traded goals the first period ended in a 3-3
deadlock.
The second period was dominated by the Sting as they
outscored their cross-county rivals by a score of 3-
0 to take a 6-3 lead into the third period. Sarnia
extended the lead by two early in the third only to
have the Chiefs battle back with two of their own
later in the period to have the game finish at 8-5
for the Sting.
A great first game of
the season for this newly united squad which
displayed some stellar defence, hard fore checking
and solid goaltending.
Scoring for the Sting
were Colin Leyton with a hat trick, Vaughan DeGurse
with two and singles to Isaac McLean, Jake Burnard
and Patrick Wright. Picking up multiple assists was
Alex Dekoning with 3.
