Lambton vs Elgin Middlesex
February 10, 2008
In their final regular season game of the year the
Lambton Minor Atoms hosted the Elgin Middlesex
Chiefs in a game that will be remembered less for
the kids play and more for the never-ending trips to
the penalty box by both teams.
The Chiefs would prevail by a final score of 4-2
including an empty netter with eight seconds left on
the clock.
The Jr Sting team fell
behind by two goals at the end of one and after
scoring the only one of the second, looked like the
third period would be theirs to take.
A back and forth effort in the third and some big
saves by Tyler Armitage couldn’t provide the boost
necessary to turn the game around. Scoring for the
Lambton squad were Franco Sproviero and Vaughan
DeGurse with assists going to Alec Dekoning, Colin
Leyton and Brock Perry.
The Sting hardhat is
peacefully resting, awaiting the first round of the
playoffs which begin in Hamilton against the Reps on
Saturday and return to the SSEC on Sunday at
12:15. |
