Alliance Playoffs
Lambton vs
Sun County
The Jr Sting Minor
Atom AAA squad opened the second round of the
playoffs with a road victory in Windsor over the
weekend defeating the Sun County Panthers by a score
of 5-3.
The first period saw
the Lambton boys come out of the gate in slow
motion, but 'Chuck', fresh off his pre-game parking
lot trauma, stood tall and kept things scoreless
heading into the second frame. The Panthers hit the
score sheet first midway through the period, but the
Jr Sting replied with three of their own in the
final six minutes to take a 3-1 lead into the final
fifteen minutes of play. In an evenly matched
period of hockey both teams added two goals and Jr
Sting cruised to a good road victory.
Putting on an
offensive performance was Alec Dekoning who tallied
4 goals ( 2 on the powerplay ) , with the fifth
marker going to Brock Perry on a nice wrap-around.
Picking up assists in the win were Isaac McLean with
two and singles to Colin Leyton, Vaughan DeGurse,
Franco Sproveiro, Jack Dunn and Jake Burnard.
Sting Hardhat was
awarded to Alec Dekoning, not only for his scoring
prowess, but for his three full periods of drive and
effort.
The Jr Sting travel
to Hensall on Friday to battle the Huron Perth
Lakers in their second round-robin matchup. |
