Lambton AAA Minor Atom Earned a
Point in Weekend Action
November 17 - 18, 2007
On Saturday the Jr Sting
welcomed the Huron-Perth Lakers to the SSEC for
their third encounter of the season. In a chippy
affair the Lakers
controlled the majority of the play early
and were able to pull
out to a 1-0
lead. The Lambton boys would not let up and were
soon rewarded on a powerplay goal by
Vaughan DeGurse assisted
by Franco Sproviero to tie the game up. Despite
chances by both teams there would be no more goals
and the season series with the Lakers is now
deadlocked with both teams enjoying a win, loss and
a tie. Sting hardhat went to DeGurse for his hard
work in the corners and solid forechecking.
Sunday the Sting
traveled to Waterloo to
battle the Wolves in their first meeting of the
season. The Wolves were coming off a victory over
the league leading London Knights and were hungry to
make the Lambton squads visit an unpleasant one.
The
hard-hitting Waterloo
team had built a lead of 3-0 before the Sting could
get on the board early in the third period on a goal
by Jake Burnard assisted by Isaac McLean.
Unfortunately the Wolves took the momentum back with
another goal a few shifts later and despite a
valiant last ditch
effort by the Sting they could only pull to within
two as Jack Dunn scored on a tip from Jack Johnston
with just over a minute to play in the third period.
Earning the hardhat for his
great effort and solid
checking was Jake Burnard. Final score was Waterloo
4 and the Lambton Sting 2. |
