Lambton AAA Minor Atoms
–
Dr.
Jekyll
and
Mr.
Hyde weekend
The Jr Sting squad
played two contrasting games over the past weekend
with the first one being a road contest at Nichols
arena in London. The Lambton team looked like they
had dipped into some magic
potion before the game
and quickly found themselves behind an enthusiastic
and hungry London Knights team. The Knights held a
6-0 lead after one period and
they
cruised the rest of the
way enroute to a
9-0 pasting of the Jr Sting.
Lucky for the boys the
potion wore off for Sunday’s exhibition match
against the Lakeland Hawks team from Michigan.
Having put the events of the prior day behind them
the Lambton squad came out with their offensive guns
firing and jumped out to a lead of 4-0 after the
first period of play. The play seemed to even out as
the game went on but a solid defensive effort from
the goaltenders through the defencemen and the
forwards let the Jr Sting build on their lead and
with two more tallies in the second period and a
single in the third
they finished with a
decisive 7-0 victory. Sharing the
shutout for the Sting
were Tyler Armitage and Jake Wilkins who both came
up with some fabulous saves. Picking up
points
in the contest were Jake
Burnard with 3 goals and 1 assist, Brock Perry with
1 goal and 3 assists, Patrick Wright with 2 goals,
Isaac McLean with a single and assists to Brett
Barnes (2),
Franco Sproviero, Vaughan DeGurse and Alec Dekoning.
Picking up the Sting
‘Hardhat’ for his hustle
and fore checking was Jack Dunn.
The
team’s next action will
be in Mississauga for the Shanahan International
Atom and PeeWee AAA tourney. |
