Lambton Minor Atom AAA Jr Sting – Where are the goals ?

The Jr Sting competed in two recent league games with the first being against the London Jr Knights at the SSEC. The game started out close, but some costly Sting mistakes and nice plays for the Knights saw the Knights take a commanding lead during the second period and never look back on route to a 7-1 victory over the Sting. Scoring the lone Sting goal was Colin Leyton.

Sunday saw the Lambton squad travel up the lake to Goderich to face the Huron Perth Lakers in another tough matchup. Things remained tied in the contest till about midway through the second period when the Lakers scored first to break a scoreless tie. They would keep up the pressure and notch two more before the end of the second to take a 3-0 lead into the final period. Despite some hard work by the Sting players they would have a hard time catching a break in the visiting rink and after falling behind by a fourth goal they were finally able to break the shutout on a nice shot to the top corner by Alec Dekoning assisted by Vaughn DeGurse. With any breaks this game could have gone the Stings way, but now back to the practice rink to get ready for Saturdays game against the Brantford 99’s.
