Jr Sting Minor
Atom AAA Take It to the Lakers
October 6, 2007
The Jr Sting traveled to Wingham for a road game
against the Huron Perth Lakers on Saturday
afternoon. The heat may have made each of the teams
a little ‘testy’ as both racked up 20 minutes each
in the penalty box. Despite the penalties the
Lambton squad played one of their most sound games
of the season and came away with a well earned 3-1
victory. The Sting would open the scoring in the
first period on a goal by Isaac McLean with the
assist going to Brock Perry. About three minutes
later the Sting would extend the lead to 2-0 with a
power-play goal from Franco
Sproviero with a lone assist going to Logan Scott.
Early in the second period the Lakers would trim the
lead to one but a minute later Patrick Wright would
put the Sting back up by two with assists going to
Alec Dekoning and Vaughn DeGurse.
The third period would see very few scoring chances,
but each time the Lakers had one, Jake Wilkins was
there to shut the door in the Sting net.
A great effort and well deserved victory for the Jr
Sting that saw hard hitting
defenseman Dawson ‘Hit ‘em’ Vautour awarded with the
‘Sting Hard Hat’ for his efforts in the game.
Lambton Jr
Sting AAA Minor Atom Hosted the Cambridge Hawks
October 7, 2007
The Jr Sting played host to the Hawks from Cambridge
on Sunday at the SSEC. After a strong outing on
Saturday in Wingham the Jr Sting came out a little
flat on home ice and by the mid-point of the second
period found themselves down 4-0 to the visitors
from Cambridge. With just over five minutes to play
in the second period the Jr Sting
were able to finally get on the scoreboard with a
powerplay goal from Brock Perry, assisted by Logan
Scott and Bert Thorpe. Under three minutes later and
on another powerplay the Minor Atoms would pull
within two on a nice goal by Colin Leyton assisted
by Perry and Isaac McLean. Score at the end of the
second period was 4-2 for the Hawks.
The third period saw some good play by the Sting but
goals were hard to come by and as time ticked down
they were finally able to pull within one on a goal
by
McLean, assisted by Perry.
The Jr Sting put up a good fight but were unable to
recover after spotting Cambridge an early four goal
lead. Tyler
Armitage made some big saves between the pipes and
Perry was awarded with the Sting hard-hat after his
three point performance. The team will resume action
next weekend with two games as they will face a
strong Kitchener team and make the return trip to
Cambridge. |
