Game 1 - Jr. Sting
Beat Canton Crush 4 - 0
Darren Foubister got the shut out and Brent Sauve
led the offsense with 2 goals and 1 assist in a 4 -
0 victory over the Canton Crush in game 1 of the
Golden Blade Tournament Friday night.
Kalvin Thornton got 2 assists. Duncan MacSorley &
Cody McPhail scored 1 each while Steve Farlow,
Duncan Innes and Ben Arseneault picked up single
assists.
Jr. Knights & Jr.
Sting Tie Game 2
Blake Thomas scored the lone goal
Saturday afternoon at the SSEC when Lambton and
London battled to a 1 - 1 tie. Duncan MacSorley
assisted. Defense and goal tending has been strong
in the past 2 games with only 1 goal against. Reid
Rankin was sharp between the pipes in this one.
The tie places the Jr. Sting in first place with a 1
goal advantage over 2nd place London.
Jr. Sting & Toronto
Tie Game 3
Derek Nap & AJ Baughman scored in a 2 - 2
tie with the Toronto Titans Saturday night at
Clearwater Arena. Cody McPhail got the lone
assist. Baughman's goal was his first with the Jr.
Sting. He was very noticeable in the game on
offense and defence; especially blocking shots when
Toronto pressured in the third period.
Another stand-out was Kalvin Thornton. Thornton was
spectacular killing off a penalty single handedly in
the third period.
The Jr. Sting finish round robin play in 2nd place.
Canton Crush Jr.
Sting
The Jr. Sting may have taken their opponents for
granted going into Sunday's Golden Blade semi final
against the Canton Crush. They had their way with
Canton by a score of 4 - 0 in round robin play.
The Jr. Sting didn't know what hit them when Canton
scored 6 power play goals en route to a 7 - 1
thumping. Brent Sauve scored the lone Jr. Sting
unassisted.
In other Golden Blade action; last seed Toronto
Titans defeated top seed London Jr. Knights, then
went on to defeat 3rd seed Canton 4 - 0 in the
Championship game.
The Jr. Sting go back to the drawing board this week
in preparation for their second regular season game
against the London Jr. Knights Saturday at the SSEC.
