Mooretown Storm
Atom AE are on the Nice List
December 22, 2007

After a surprise
visit from a certain Jolly Old Elf after
Thursday's practice the Storm were eager to
lace them up against Wallaceburg for their
final game before Santa's official visit
next week.
The Storm wasted
no time grabbing control of the game scoring
three goals in the opening two minutes of
play.
Trevor Bogaert
got the party started with an unassisted
beauty and then Cooper Muxlow fired home a
laser after a slick feed from Hayden
Gardner. Gardner would then drive the net
hard off the wing to bury a goal of his own
after a beautiful cross ice pass from Ethan
Dupont. Jacob Munday started the play with
a nice breakout pass.
Wallaceburg
would get back into the game as a long shot
from the point snuck in the short side.
Kyler Raymond would deny that he had sugar
plums dancing in his head and figured it had
something to do with the nine pairs of
skates that were in his way.
Before the 1st
period would end Ben Anderson would fire one
in after being sent flying down the wing
by a Luke Simon pass to up the lead to 4-1.
The 2nd period
saw the Storm and Lakers up the intensity
level and trade more penalties than goals.
Aynsley Harrison deftly tipped in a cross
crease pass from Kirk Smith to provide a
four goal cushion. The Lakers would answer
back a of couple minutes later as a hard
shot from the wing found its way in off of
the far post. Wallaceburg played pressure
offence the rest of the period trying to
get back into the game but Raymond, and
later Kaden Fulcher, were on the spot to
come up with some big saves.
With a
comfortable lead entering the 3rd the Storm
began to relax and the Lakers took advantage
and got loose for two breakaways. As
always, the Storm goalie, this time Fulcher,
was equal to the task and kept the Lakers at
bay. Late in the 3rd Dupont would make the
Lakers pay for some rough play by burying a
powerplay goal top shelf to finish out the
scoring for a 6-2 victory.
The Storm are on
the road after Christmas as they visit
Lambeth and Port Stanley in League play and
then head to Elora for their holiday
tournament.
