Mooretown Storm Atom AE Continue Their Winning
Ways
February 1, 2008
The Storm blew into Wallaceburg Friday night and
came away with a 3-1 win in their only game of the weekend.
The Lakers, coming off a solid win over
Petrolia, were fired up and ready to avenge an 8-1 pasting given to them by
the Storm the previous Saturday in
Mooretown.
Wallaceburg came out of the gates a bit too
strong and took a penalty just a minute into the game. Mooretown would need
only twenty-two seconds to make them pay as Hunter Adams snapped one into
the far corner from the off wing. Ethan DuPont and Aynsley Harrison
assisted on the powerplay goal.
The Storm would then steal the momentum and play
the rest of the period in the Wallaceburg zone but were unable to beat their
goaltender to pad their lead.
In the 2nd period some sloppy play at the Storm
blueline would result in Wallaceburg scoring to tie the game at the midway
point. The Storm would regroup and pressure the Lakers at every
opportunity, out-chancing the home team even while shorthanded. The Storm
weren't able to grab the lead and the teams headed to the 3rd tied at 1.
In the 3rd period Mooretown came out strong and
dominated with an aggressive forecheck and some timely pinches from the
Defence. Trevor Bogaert would pounce on a loose puck and whip it through
the five hole for the eventual game winner. Cooper Muxlow and Hayden
Gardner were in on the goal. The Storm continued to hem the Lakers into
their own zone until Bogaert once again finished off some great forechecking
by snapping
one home. Gardner and Griffin Dillabough were credited with assists on the
insurance marker.
Kaden Fulcher started in goal and was his usual
steady self. Kyler Raymond came on in relief and played another strong game
in killing off a late Laker powerplay to preserve the victory.
The Storm sit with a 3-1-1 record in their OMHA
Preliminary Round Robin and finish this
upcoming Saturday with a home game versus Petrolia.
