Mooretown
Storm
Atom
AE
played
host
to Sarnia
Major
Atom
MD in
an
exhibition
game
With
an
off
weekend
to
prepare
for
their
upcoming
Semi-Final
League
Playoff
series
against
St.Thomas,
the
Storm
hosted
the
Sarnia
Major
Atom
MD
team
in a
Sunday
afternoon
tune-up
game.
With
all
major
atom
players
on
their
squad,
the
Sarnia
team
was
expected
to
be
more
physical
than
most
of
the
Storm's
opponents
and
didn't
disappoint.
In
an
extremely
hard
hitting,
end
to
end
game,
the
Storm,
to a
player,
played
one
of
their
most
complete
defensive
games
in
coming
away
with
a
very
hard
earned
1-0
victory.
Kirk
Smith
was
the
only
player
to
find
the
back
of
the
net,
scoring
an
unassisted
goal
midway
through
the
1st
Period.
Storm
goalies
Kyler
Raymond
and
Kaden
Fulcher
split
the
game
and
both
played
extremely
well
in
holding
a
hard
shooting
team
off
the
score
board.
With
Sarnia
taking
14
minutes
in
penalties and
Mooretown
10
there
was
plenty
of
special
teams
play
each
way.
The
Storm
played
a
very
gritty
game,
cycling
the
puck
well
in
the
Sarnia
zone
and
collapsing
as a
5
player
unit
in
their
own
end
to
clear
away
any
Sarnia rebounds.
The
defence
of
Griffin
Dillabough,
Jacob
Munday,
Luke
Simon,
Connor
MacLean
and
Brett
Farr
did
an
excellent
job
of
clearing
out
of
the
front
of
their
net
and
making
smart
outlet
passes
to
keep
Sarnia
from
gaining
any
sustained
offensive
flow.
The
Storm
forwards
forechecked
hard
and
if
not
for
a
post,
a
rolling
puck
across
the
goal
line
and
two
stupendous
glove
saves
by
the
Sarnia
goalie,
could
have
given
Mooretown
a
bit
more
of a
cushion
and
avoided
the
drama
of
holding
on
for
the
1
goal
victory.
The
Storm
are
now
ready
to
face-off
against
St.Thomas
in a
best
of 5
series
beginning
with
home
games
Tuesday
March
4th
and
Wednesday
March
5th.
