Mooretown Storm Atom AE win Game 2 on the road
Coming off a convincing win in the series opener the Storm took to the ice in St. Thomas for Game 2 and came out on top by a score of 2-1.
The Mooretown players were ready to pick up the offence where they left off Wednesday night on the big ice surface in St. Thomas. However, it was tough sledding as the heavily snowed up ice surface made it difficult to play a free wheeling offensive game. The Storm showed they can muck it up as well as they can run and gun and played a very solid game on the road.
The Storm would open the scoring midway through the 1st as Kirk Smith weaved his way into the slot before unleashing a shot into the top of the net with an assist going to Aleeza Dobson.
Smith would strike again in the 2nd putting home a goal mouth scramble with Dobson and Ben Anderson picking up the helpers. The Storm defence would continue to stifle the St. Thomas attack standing them up at the blueline while the strong backchecking of the forwards continued to steal pucks in the neutral zone. With neither team mounting too much of an attack the period would end with the Storm up by two.
The 3rd Period saw the home team start to out hustle the Storm at times and lead to St. Thomas scoring off a miscue deep in the Storm zone. This would turn out to be the only blemish on the night as Mooretown would carry the play for the remaining seven minutes to seal the victory and take a commanding lead in the series.
Kyler Raymond got the start in goal and Kaden Fulcher finished up as both keepers were once again at their best.
