Mooretown Storm Atom AE sweep into League Finals!
Sunday, March 9...
With Mother Nature again interfering with the series forcing the cancellation of Saturday's game, the Storm had to wait until Sunday to play Game 3 of their Semi-Final Series against St.Thomas. With Mooretown gaining back the home ice advantage they had lost with the game cancellation on Tuesday they took no chance in prolonging the series and swept the Stars away with a 6-2 victory.
The game was closer than the final score would indicate as St.Thomas lead 1-0 after the 1st Period. The Storm would score the lone goal of the 2nd to send the teams into the final frame deadlocked at 1. Mooretown then blew the doors off with a 5 goal outburst in the top half of the 3rd Period to sweep the series 3 games to 0.
Providing the offence for Mooretown was:
Trevor Bogaert with the Hat Trick and single goals by Ethan DuPont, Christian Lyle and Kirk Smith.
DuPont and Cooper Muxlow picked up two assists each with single helpers going to Bogaert, Aleeza Dobson, Griffin Dillabough, Ben Anderson and Kyler Raymond. Raymond dug out his player's gear shore up a depleted bench and played a strong game on the point.
Kaden Fulcher went the distance in goal and picked up a great win, and along with Raymond, held the Stars to just three goals in the series.
Mooretown now faces St. Mary's, the Regular Season point leaders, in a 3 out of 5 Shamrock League Championship Series.
