Mooretown was
host to the rival Petrolia Oilers Saturday
afternoon and as usual the game was a
spirited affair.
Kaden Fulcher
and Kyler Raymond were stellar in goal
recording their 5th shutout in the past 9
games.
The Storm got on
the board first as Trevor Bogaert fired home
an unassisted goal to provide the only
scoring in the opening period.
Mooretown then
went on to completely dominate the 2nd
period scoring 5 times. Kirk Smith got the
rout started by scoring a natural hat-trick
in a span of 4 minutes and Hayden Gardner
shoved home another just a minute
later prompting a position overhaul.
With the defence
moved to forward and the forwards moved to
defence, Griffin Dillabough and Jacob Munday,
with one in the 3rd, showed their offensive
flare to round out the scoring. Luke Simon
played a strong game picking up 2 assists,
with single helpers going to Aleeza Dobson,
Brett Farr, Cooper Muxlow and Hunter Adams.
Adams was a force when moved up to the wing
making it a tough, and rough, afternoon for
the Petrolia defence.

Saturday night...saw
the Storm whip up section
104 at the SSEC to watch the
Sting take on the Soo
Greyhounds. While the end
result wasn't what the team
hoped for, Mckerrow Mike
didn't seem
too disappointed, finding it
hard not to cheer for dem
northerners. He was
gracious in teaching the
kids how to heckle the
visiting goalie however.
Special thanks to Coach
Dillabough for arranging the
evening. Special thanks to
the SSEC for not making us
stay and clean up after
ourselves...

Sunday...Mooretown 5 Wallaceburg 2
The Storm earned
a hard fought victory in a penalty filled
game against the Wallaceburg Lakers .
Luke Simon opened the scoring in the first
minute of play on a beautiful coast to coast
solo rush capped off by a great deke. The
rest of the period was high in action but
neither team could light the lamp again.

Wallaceburg tied
the game early in the 2nd but the Storm
regained the lead on a powerplay goal by
Kirk Smith after a nice set up by Aleeza
Dobson. Simon also picked up an assist.
Mooretown would up their lead to 2 on a nice
passing play while shorthanded as Ben
Anderson converted a feed from Smith.
The 3rd period
saw the teams combine for 22 minutes in
penalties. The Storm took advantage of the
extra room and took a 5-1 lead before
allowing the Lakers a late breakaway close
to within 3. Smith, in on another
goal, scored his 2nd powerplay goal of the
night, assisted by Dobson and Anderson, and
Christian Lyle banged home a rebound while
the teams were playing 4 on 4. Cooper
Muxlow, and Simon, with his 3rd point of the
game, picked up the assists.
Raymond and Fulcher
again shared in the victory as both
continued their strong play between the
pipes.
The Storm are
back in action next weeked with 2 home
games. They host league leading Strathroy
on Saturday and then, on Sunday, face Sarnia
Major Atom MD in an exhibition game.
