The Mooretown Storm
Atom AE team played their first game of the
pre-season and came away with a well deserved 4-1
win in Wallaceburg.
The Storm opened the
scoring late in the first period on a quick
turnaround wrist shot by Ethan Dupont after a nice
feed from Hayden Gardner. Aynsley Harrison also
picked up an assist after creating a turnover with
some solid fore-checking.
Mooretown took
control midway through the second with goals just
under two minutes apart. After a lead pass from
Brett Farr, Kirk Smith set up a streaking Cooper
Muxlow who buried a goal low glove. Trevor Bogaert
then increased the lead to three with a nice coast
to coast effort ending with a strong wristshot into
the back of the net.
Kaden Fulcher played
a solid first half of the game in goal and made
several saves in close until his team found their
legs.
Kyler Raymond came in
for the second half and was tested early. After some
key saves it would take a point blank shot after a
turnover in the slot for Wallaceburg to muster their
only tally.
Ben Anderson finished
the scoring by making no mistake after he was sprung
for a long breakaway by a beautiful pass from
Griffin Dillabough.
All the players put
in an excellent effort. Christian Lyle played a
strong game along the boards and the Defence of Luke
Simon, Hunter Adams, Jacob Munday and Brett Farr did
a great job of moving the puck and keeping a speedy
Wallaceburg team in check.
Mooretown welcomes
Wallaceburg this Saturday, September 29 for a
rematch on home ice.
