Petrolia drops a Pair

November 2 - 4, 2007

The Squires took a pair of home losses over the weekend,  the first against the Windsor Saints.

A single goal was scored in the first period by Windsor midway into the period.  In the second period Logan Hunter started things off just :14 seconds into the period to tie things up.  Windsor answered back with powerplay goal to regain the lead and as the period was winding down at 1:28 the Squires tied it again on a power play goal by Mike Perry.  The Saints again took the lead :24 seconds later with 1:04 remaining on the clock to take the 3 - 2 lead heading into the third.  In the third the Saints widened their lead by 2 at 13:30 on a powerplay but the Squires Scott Hull scored unassisted to narrow the lead at 12:25. The Squires continued to fight back and at 6:26 Logan Hunter scored his second goal of the night to tie.  Penalites were a factor and the winning goal was scored by the Saints with 2:03 left on the clock.  Score would remain the same as the final buzzer was sounded giving the Saints the 5 - 4 win.

On Sunday the Squires hosted the Dundas Real McCoy's.  Petrolia went up 2 - 0 after the first period of play with the first goal at scored shorthanded and unassisted by Jason Hawes at 5:15.  Scott Hull scored the second later in the period at 16:59 and the period ended with the Squires leading.

In the second period Dundas scored their first goal shorthanded at 2:13 then added their second goal at 9:15 to tie up the game.  They would add their third goal of the period at 15:03 to take the lad but Joe Sauve's powerplay goal evened the game with just 1:38 left in the period.  The period ended with both sides even with 3 apiece.

In the final stanza both sides went scoreless sending the game into overtime.  Petrolia netminder took a delay of game penalty that resulted in a penalty shot handed to the Real McCoy's which Ryan Christie capitalized on to win the game in OT with a final score of 4 - 3.
