The Squires took a pair of home losses over
the weekend, the first against the
Windsor Saints.
A single goal was scored in the first period
by Windsor midway into the period. In
the second period Logan Hunter started
things off just :14 seconds into the period
to tie things up. Windsor answered
back with powerplay goal to regain the lead
and as the period was winding down at 1:28
the Squires tied it again on a power play
goal by Mike Perry. The Saints again
took the lead :24 seconds later with 1:04
remaining on the clock to take the 3 - 2
lead heading into the third. In the
third the Saints widened their lead by 2 at
13:30 on a powerplay but the Squires Scott
Hull scored unassisted to narrow the lead at
12:25. The Squires continued to fight back
and at 6:26 Logan Hunter scored his second
goal of the night to tie. Penalites
were a factor and the winning goal was
scored by the Saints with 2:03 left on the
clock. Score would remain the same as
the final buzzer was sounded giving the
Saints the 5 - 4 win.
On Sunday the Squires hosted
the Dundas Real McCoy's. Petrolia went
up 2 - 0 after the first period of play with
the first goal at scored shorthanded and
unassisted by Jason Hawes at 5:15.
Scott Hull scored the second later in the
period at 16:59 and the period ended with
the Squires leading.
In the second period Dundas scored their
first goal shorthanded at 2:13 then added
their second goal at 9:15 to tie up the
game. They would add their third goal
of the period at 15:03 to take the lad but
Joe Sauve's powerplay goal evened the game
with just 1:38 left in the period. The
period ended with both sides even with 3
apiece.
In the final stanza both
sides went scoreless sending the game into
overtime. Petrolia netminder took a
delay of game penalty that resulted in a
penalty shot handed to the Real McCoy's
which Ryan Christie capitalized on to win
the game in OT with a final score of 4 - 3. |
