Petrolia Squires take back to back
wins!
Petrolia vs Tillsonburg

In back to back
home games the Squires traveled to
Tillsonburg for game 2 of the series.
With their first win under their belts the
previous night the Squires were ready for
game 2.
The scoring started early as Mike Gardner
scored the first goal early at 1:36 on a
powerplay after Tillsonburg took an early
tripping call. Assisting on the powerplay
were Mike Perry and Breyden Belan.
Tillsonburg answered back at 4:03 when
Patrick Dobie scored. Then just :25
seconds later Petrolia regained the lead on
a goal by Breyden Belan from Kyle Gould and
Mike Perry. At 8:04 Tillsonburg again
tied things up with Jarret Peterson scoring.
Action continued until Jason Polera began
his shooting spree and scored 4 unanswered
goals to take the lead 6 - 2 at the end of
the period. His first goal was
unassisted came at 14:52. Then at
18:30, 18:41 and 19:11 Polera and Scott Hull
became the gruesome twosome for Tillsonburg
with Hull assisting on each of the goals.
In the second period a pair of power play
goals were scored by each side with
Tillsonburg scoring the first by Brad Streib
and Joel Myers from Chris McPhail and Jason
Polera scoring for Petrolia. The
period ended with Petrolia leading 7 - 3.
In the final period ex-Sting player Reg
Thomas managed to score just over a minute
into the third that ended the scoring as
both sides played back and forth to end the
game giving Petrolia their second win of the
season with a final score of 7 - 4.
Squires goalie Chris Houle was in net for
the win making a total of 50 saves!
Victor Ranieri and Craig Morrell shared
duties in the loss for Tillsonburg with a
combine total of 27 saves.
Petrolia took a total of 14 mintues in
penalty time on 7 infractions with
Tillsonburg taking 8 minutes on 4 throughout
the game. Petrolia went 2 for 4 on the
powerplay and Tillsonburg went 1 for 7.
Next up Petrolia meets up with Windsor for
another home/home series with the first game
on Tuesday in Windsor then back home on
Friday Nov 3 with a puck drop at 8:00 pm. |
