The
Point Edward Bantam team travelled
to Niagara On The Lake for a March
Break Tournament and came home with
the gold medal! First game the team
played Niagara on the Lake #1 and
won 4-1. Carson Blair, Presten
MacKenzie and Kevin Conroy all had a
goal and an assist, Josh Sykes had a
goal, assists went to Matt Huggett
and Joel Laframboise. Nick Gilroy
and Tyler Bell shared the excellent
goaltending.
Game 2
was against Thornton #1, the Point
Boys won with a score of 5-2, the
goal scores were unavailable.
Game 3
was against a very strong Thornton
#2 team at 7:30 am, the boys came
out strong, and so did they, the
whole game was back and forth, the
game was eventually a 4-4 tie, Ryan
Tye had 3 goals, Joel Laframboise
had 1 goal, Kevin Conroy chipped in
with 3 assists, and Presten
Mackenzie also had an assist. Nick
Gilroy and Tyler Bell both shared in
the tie game in net.
Game 4
was played against Niagara on the
Lake team #2 and skated to a 9-0
win. Kevin Conroy had 2 goals, Ryan
Tye and Clinton Sabo had a goal and
an assist. Luc Dubois, Carson Blair,
Presten MacKenzie and Tanner
Belling, Josh Sykes all had singles.
Joel Laframboise had 3 helpers in
the game as well. Tyler Bell played
excellent in net to earn the
shutout.
Championship game was to be played
against the Thornton #2 as they had
won both of their games as well. The
game once again went back and forth
, very exciting all the way to the
end, the game eventually went into
overtime as the game was a tie.
Scoring in this game was Kevin
Conroy with 3 goals, Brady Harper
and Presten MacKenzie with 1 each,
Clinton Sabo and Ryan Tye both had
an assist. Nick Gilroy was the
winning goalie for this game. Team
MVP for the tournament was Kevin
Conroy.
