Point Edward Novice Team Comes Away With
3 Points on a Double Header Saturday
On Saturday
December 1st, the Point Edward Novice Blackhawks played
Lambton Shores Black and Red teams and came away with a win and a
tie.
The first game saw
the Blackhawks travel to the new Forest arena to battle the Lambton
Shores Black team.
The game started
slow with each team playing defensively. The Lambton Shores team did
catch the Hawks off balance a few times but Bailey Reinders came up
big to keep them off the board. The Hawks waited for their
opportunity and Joshua Vale intercepted a puck and scored at 1:29
left in the period to give the Point a 1-0 lead.
The second period
saw the game continue at a defensive pace with both teams goalies
and defense stealing the show and not giving either team an
offensive opportunity. The period ended with the Point leading 1-0.
With the game in
its last 15 minutes of play, both teams changed their strategies to
an offensive one. Lucas Ross came up big when he got a break away
and made it count to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead. Shortly thereafter
Lambton Shores retaliated to keep the game close and make it 2-1.
With the period coming to an end quickly, Lambton Shores made a last
charge and in a scramble in front of the Point net were able to tie
the game 2-2 to end the game.

The Points second
game of the day was at home versus the Lambton Shores Red team.
After tying the Black team earlier in the day, the Hawks had
something to prove.
The first game
started exactly as the first game with both teams playing
defensively. The Point started to gain momentum in the last half of
the period and they were able to take a 1-0 lead when Mackenzie
Caley made a perfect pass to a wide opened Joseph Correia to give
the Hawks a 1-0 lead to end the period.
The second period
showed both teams wanting the win. Bailey Reinders made some
excellent saves and the Hawks defense helped by getting the puck out
of their zone. Even though the play was end-to-end, neither team
could capitalize and the period ended 1-0 for the Point.
The third period
saw the Point take control of the game. The period began with the
Hawks forcing the play into the Lambton Shores zone and midway
through the period, the flood gates opened. Joshua Vale started the
scoring to make it 2-0 for the Hawks with assists going to Cole
Molloy and Hunter Krjniak. Less than a minute later Lucas Ross
scored off Joshua Vale and Hunter Krjniak passes to extend their
lead to 3-0. The Blackhawks were on a role and wouldn’t let up and
Kaeden Caine finished the scoring late in the period to give the
Hawks a 4-0 victory.
