Point Edward Novice Win a Hard Fought Battle
The Point Edward Minor Novice hosted the
East Lambton1 Eagles in a Thursday night game and won 2-1 in
Lambton-Middlesex league action.
The Point caught the Eagles off guard
early when in the first minute of play, Joshua Vale scored to make
it 1-0, with assists going to Cole Molloy and Lucas Ross. The
Blackhawks controlled the play early and the defense didn’t let the
Eagles set up or get and second chance scoring opportunities. The
Point did have a power play opportunity but they couldn’t capitalize
and the period ended 1-0.
The second period continued with the
Point pressuring the Eagles hard but the East Lambton goalie was
coming up big and shutting the door on the Hawks. The Points defense
did an excellent job keeping the Eagles away from the Points net.
Late in the period, the Hawks got caught in the Eagles zone and East
Lambton tied it 1-1 on a breakaway. The period ended tied at 1-1.
With the game tied, the eagles began to
pressure the Point and keep the puck in the Blackhawks zone. The
Hawks didn’t allow the Eagles to set-up any plays and Bailey
Reinders made some excellent saves to keep the game at 1-1 with the
added pressure from East Lambton. Joshua Vale got his second goal of
the night when Jett Terpstra and Mackenzie Caley passed the puck to
give Vale a breakaway opportunity and he made it count to give the
Hawks a 2-1 lead. The Eagles continued to battle hard but couldn’t
score and the game ended 2-1 for the Hawks.
