1st Period: The Jets started out well and at one point had a 3 on 1 opportunity but Berglund came up big with the save. A hooking minor at 9:37 sent off Sarnia's Matt Abercrombie to the sin bin for a two minute break and it was the Blast who did the scoring during this penalty. Knocking in a short-handed marker at 10:07 was Adam Steadman with an assist to Owen Rogers. The Blast continued to control the puck and 49 seconds later Owen Rogers scored another short-handed goal, picking up his own rebound. |

A holding the stick minor at 3:44 sent Greg Zavitz of the Jets to the sin bin for a time out and he remained there until the Blast scored their first power play goal of the evening. Roofing a shot was Tyler Lewis from Tyler Cicchini and Tyler Peters -- the Tyler line! At the next stoppage in play just 11 seconds later, Petrolia pulled Zador in favour of Nick Zavitz. Each team took a number of penalties with one short bout taking place near the 14 minute mark. The Blast finally managed to get one behind Nick Zavitz with one minute remaining in the period. |
