This game was dedicated to the memory of Caitlyn Cicchini sister of Blast forward Tyler Cicchini.
 The Blast raised funds and accepted donations for the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Caitlyn Cicchini,
Caitlyn's & Tyler father was on hand in a special puck drop ceremony to start the game.
 

Starting in goal for Petrolia was Michael Zador and between the pipes for the Blast was Matt Berglund.

 
1st Period:  The Jets started out well and at one point had a 3 on 1 opportunity but Berglund came up big with the save.  A hooking minor at 9:37 sent off Sarnia's Matt Abercrombie to the sin bin for a two minute break and it was the Blast who did the scoring during this penalty.  Knocking in a short-handed marker at 10:07 was Adam Steadman with an assist to Owen Rogers.  The Blast continued to control the puck and 49 seconds later Owen Rogers scored another short-handed goal, picking up his own rebound.  

With Sarnia's Josh Cornelissen off for interference at 11:44, the Jets got on the score board with a marker off the stick of  Brentley Belenger from Greg Zavitz and Tanner Tomlinson. Shots on goal:  Petrolia - 16   Sarnia - 12.  Petrolia was the only team with the man advantage and they went 1 for 2 this period.
 
2nd Period:  Sarnia did all the scoring this period and opened with their fourth goal of the game at the 2:44 mark off the stick of Owen Rogers.  Picking up assists were John Conrad and Adam Steadman.  A holding the stick minor at 3:44 sent Greg Zavitz of the Jets to the sin bin for a time out and he remained there until the Blast scored their first power play goal of the evening.  Roofing a shot was Tyler Lewis from Tyler Cicchini and Tyler Peters -- the Tyler line!  At the next stoppage in play just 11 seconds later, Petrolia pulled Zador in favour of  Nick Zavitz.  Each team took a number of penalties with one short bout taking place near the 14 minute mark.  The Blast finally managed to get one behind Nick Zavitz with one minute remaining in the period.

  A tripping minor at 18:38 put Shawn Waldie of Petrolia in the penalty box and it led to Sarnia's second power play goal of the game.  Scoring his second of the evening was Adam Steadman with the lone assist to Kyle Gallinger.  Shots on goal:  Petrolia - 8/24   Sarnia - 17/29.  Petrolia was 0 for 2 with the man advantage this period and Sarnia was 2 for 4 on the power play.

 
3rd Period:  This period was all about goals, and they came frequently.  The first one came 47 seconds in and off the stick of Tyler Cicchini with helpers to Wayd Pitfield and Tyler Peters.  Just 46 seconds later Tyler Cicchini struck again making the score 8-1 in favour of the Blast.  The lone assist on Cicchini's second goal was Tyler Peters.  Petrolia got one back with a goal 15 seconds after the pair by Tyler.  Notching Petrolia's second and final goal of the game was Dominic Chiappelli with assists to Chris Wilson and Peter Pritchett.  Sarnia's Tyler Lewis notched his second of the evening at the 5:28 mark and picking up assists were Matt Abercrombie and Derek VanVeller.  The final Blast goal came off the stick of Derek VanVeller at the 8:19 mark and assists went to John Conrad and Tyler Lewis. 

The second scrap of the evening took place near the midway mark of the period and also having a early night were Trevor Bet of Petrolia and Sarnia's Tyler Peters.
 Shots on goal:  Petrolia - 13/37   Sarnia - 17/46.  Petrolia was 0 for 1 with the man advantage this period and were 1 for 5 in the game.  Sarnia was also 0 for 1 on the power play this period and were 2 for 5 in the game.

 
The Blast are on the road for the next four games before they close out the month with a home game.  They conclude this week of play with a game on Saturday the 19th in Strathroy.  Game time is 7:30 against the Rockets.
Next week the Blast travel to Tecumseh on Wednesday the 23rd for a 7:00 match against the league leading Chiefs.  Then on Friday the 25th they take on the Lincolns for a 7:45 game in Stonetown (aka St. Marys).
The final week of January finds the boyz off to London on Sunday the 27th for a 2:30 game.  The Nats have a return engagement on Thursday the 31st as we play host to them with a 7:30 puck drop at the Brock Street Barn.
