1st Period:  Each team took one penalty this period and were successful in the penalty kill. The only goal came with 25 seconds remaining in the period and it was a marker off the stick of Sarnia's Tyler Lewis.  Assists were picked up by Wayd Pitfield and Tyler Peters. Shots on goal:  London - 8   Sarnia - 9.

2nd Period:  Sarnia took a penalty early in the period and were successful in killing it off. However Alex Yardy was called for delay of game at 4:02 and was joined by team mate Clark MacPherson at 5:09 when he took a holding minor.  The Nationals made good when they had the two man advantage and got on the scoreboard with a Glen McCarron goal at 6:01 from Anthony Sobocznyski.  Sarnia regained the lead at 8:34 when Wayd Pitfield lit the lamp for the visiting Sarnia Blast.  Picking up assists were Matt Abercrombie and Scott Stafford.  The lead lasted for all of 25 seconds before Adam McKee tied up the score once again.  Assists went to Chris MacKay and Michael D'Agostini.  Shots on goal:  London - 14/22   Sarnia - 9/18.  London was 1 for 3 on the power play and Sarnia was 0 for 1 with the man advantage this period.

3rd Period:  No scoring took place during this 20 minutes of play but London did have good puck possession for the period. With one minute to go in regulation time, Sarnia's Derek VanVeller was called for slashing so the Nationals began the overtime period with the man advantage. Shots on goal:  London - 11/33   Sarnia - 3/21.  London was 0 for 2 on the power play (and the last one lasted over into the first minute of play in OT) and Sarnia was 0 for 1 with the man advantage.

Overtime:  Sarnia successfully killed off the VanVeller penalty and then found themselves on the power play themselves with London's Kevin Bodker was called for interference at the 2:47 mark.  It appeared a shoot-out was imminent but with 3.2 seconds Glen McCarron's shot made its way past Faulkner and won the game for the home team.  Assists went to Josh Johnston and Michael Sharp.  Shots on goal:  London - 5/38   Sarnia - 3/24.

On Thursday the Nationals visit Sarnia for the back end of the home-and-home series.  Game time is 7:30 that evening.  In addition, we would like to send a special invite to the Sarnia Girls Hockey Association and the Girls Silver stick teams to attend our game.
