Blast Unable to Hold Off Third Period Maroon Heroics
Final Score:  Chatham - 4   Sarnia - 2
by Deb Lawrence

Picking up the win for the Maroons was Mike Ostropelec and starting the game for the Blast was Mark Pereira.

1st Period:  The lone goal of this period went to the home team Maroons at the 11:52 mark.  It was a power play goal scored by Stibbard from McKillop and Rivard while Sarnia's Marco Ruggeri was in the box for hooking.  Shots on goal: Chatham - 7   Sarnia - 14.  Chatham was 1 for 2 on the power play this period and Sarnia was 0 for 2 with the man advantage.

2nd Period:  Chatham took a two goal lead just 1:31 in on Stibbard's second of the game.  Helpers went to Plouffe and Cooper. Shortly after the goal, play was stopped as Sarnia goaltender Mark Pereira couldn't continue the game.  Coming in at the 1:48 mark for the Blast was John Faulkner who took the loss. Sarnia got on the scoreboard with a power play goal of their own after Closs went off for tripping at 8:55.  Lighting the lamp for the Blast at 9:49 was Kyle Gallinger who let one rip from just inside the blue line and through traffic.  Assists went to Matt Abercrombie and Toby Brune.  The Blast tied the game while enjoying the man advantage again.  Wood of the Maroons took a minor for hooking at 14:42 but with four seconds remaining on the power play, Sarnia's Tyler Lewis stuffed one home. Picking up assists were Matt Pereira and Matt Abercrombie.  Shots on goal: Chatham - 10/17   Sarnia - 8/22.  Chatham was 1 for 2 on the power play this period and Sarnia was 2 for 3 with the man advantage.

3rd Period:  Plenty of action this period, with play going from one end to the other but it was Chatham who did the scoring.  At the end of the second period, there were two Sarnia penalties and one Chatham penalty called with an end result of the Maroons beginning this period with the man advantage and took it they did.  Just 18 seconds in, Chatham's Carter gave the home team the lead in the game once again, and they would not relinquish it.  Assists went to Morden and Rivard. Another Sarnia penalty, this one to Kyle Gallinger for roughing at 6:05 led to another power play goal for Chatham.  Scoring at the 7:21 mark was Cloutier from Rivard and Knight.  With one minute to go and a penalty to Chatham, Sarnia called a time out.  When play resumed, Sarnia had pulled their goalie for an extra attacker. With the faceoff deep in Maroon territory, the Blast controlled the puck for the most part, but were unable to get anything further behind Ostropelec.  Shots on goal: Chatham - 14/31   Sarnia - 14/36.  Chatham was 1 for 2 on the power play this period and were 3 for 5 in the game.  Sarnia was 0 for 2 this period and were 2 for 7 in the game.

MVP - in Chatham they only pick an MVP from the Maroons, and tonight's pick was Evan Stibbard with 2 goals.
