Avalanche Tournament Results from
Thanksgiving Weekend
The
Sarnia Jr. Bantam A/AA participated
in the Avalanche Tournament this
past Thanksgiving Weekend. The
Major Bantam’s were one of 4 Sarnia
teams participating in this event.
First
game of the tournament saw Sarnia
tie Richmond Hill Stars 1-1.
Sarnia’s Christian Savo scored the
tie winning goal with assists from
Pietro Ristivo and Michael Smithies
with 25 seconds left in the game.
The goal was scored on a power play
with the goalie pulled. Between the
pipes was Jordan Dugas.
Second
game saw action against Clarkson
Hurricanes and Sarnia came away with
a 4-0 win. 1st period
goal on a power play was scored by
Jordan McBeath assisted by Brandan
Burr and Sam Jasmin. There were two
2nd period goals first
scored by Jordan McBeath with
assists from Pietro Restivo and Sam
Jasmin and the second was on the
power play by Christian Savo
assisted by George Stamm. The 3rd
period saw Jordan McBeath get a hat
trick with assists from Justin
Stymest and Jam Jasmin. Vince
Amodeo was between the pipes and
earned his shutout!
Sunday
the Sting met up Brantford 99ers and
tied in a tight game. Sarnia’s
Chris Taylor scored with assists
from Dan Lumley and Jace Felton .
Brantford scored on a power play in
the second period. In net for the
Sting was Vince Amodeo.
The
Sting went on to defeat Grimsby
later that same day 3-0. Goals were
scored by Joel Acton assisted by
Justin Stymest and Sam Jasmin. Joel
Acton scored again with help from
Cody Hardman and Chris Taylor. The
third goal was fired in by Pietro
Restivo unassisted! Jordan Dugas
was in net for the Sting earning a
well fought shutout.
The
Sting then advanced to the semi
finals against Gloucester(Ottawa)
and Sarnia had the win 2-1.
Gloucester was undefeated until this
point with no goals against.
Sarnia’s Dan Lumley assisted by
Pietro Restivo and Joel Acton cored
the first goal and Cody Harman had
the second goal with assist going to
Sam Jasmin. Vince Amodeo was in net
for this game.
Championship game saw Sarnia defeat
Brantford 99ers 5-2. First goal
shot in by Jordan Mc Beath assisted
by Pietro Restivo and Sam Jasmin.
Second goal saw Michael Smithies
fire one in unassisted. Third goal
was by Sam Jasmin assisted by Jordan
McBeath and Pietro Restivo. Dan
Lumley scored the fourth goal
assisted by Joel Acton. The fifth
goal of the game was scored by Joel
Acton unassisted. In net for the
Sting was Jordan Dugas.
Special
note: All 9 forwards scored in the
tournament- 16 goals in 6 games!
Our defense and goalies played
extremely well allowing only 5 goals
against in the 6 games we played.
A great
start to the season coming home with
the championship trophy! |
