The St. Thomas
Stars beat the very flat Sarnia
Jr. Sting Minor Atom A / AA
hockey team by a score of 2 – 0
on Saturday, October 13, 2007 in
St. Thomas. Aside from the
above average play of only a few
players, and in particular
Nathan Cooper who had a very
strong game, the majority of the
Jr. Sting allowed the Stars to
take the win. |
Turn-overs posed a problem
for the Jr. Sting which gave the Stars more
opportunities than they deserved and
depleted the Jr. Sting’s opportunities to
muster up any offence. However, in spite of
all of the Stars’ opportunities, the game
remained scoreless for the first period and
the majority of the second period. At the 4
minute mark of the second period the Stars
found the net on a wide shot from the right
side of the rink making it 1 – 0 for St.
Thomas. Less than 2 minutes later, the
Stars added their second goal when they
initiated a 3 on 1 rush after a failed
offensive strike by the Jr. Sting.

In the third
period it looked like the Jr.
Sting would be able to add a
mark to the score sheet as the
Stars played shorthanded by two
for over three minutes.
However, the congested Jr. Sting
couldn’t find the space and the
skill required to add the goal.
No goals were added for either
team during the third period and
the game finished 2 – 0 for the
Stars. |
