The Sarnia
Jr.Sting hosted the Stratford Warriors at Clearwater Arena
on February 15th in Regular game play. The Sting still
riding high from their near victory an evening before gave
the Warriors a run for their money the Warriors not knowing
what to make of the Sting where constantly dumping the puck
out of their own zone and causing turnover's like crazy.
Which resulted in some bad penalty calls for this Stratford
team. In one such incident it allowed the Sting to go on a 5
on 3 which resulted in the Stings Second goal of the first
period. The first goal came from Richard McIntosh on the
rebound shot from Cole Dodge and they where assisted by
Tyler Gillis. The Second goal came from Strom Astolfi on the
5 on 3 in a nice set up from Colin Osler and Jack Chapman.
The Sting
continued their dominating ways thru the second period, but
there where no goals to be had although they had their
chances they where unable to find the back of the net.
During the
second intermission the Sting listened intently as Coach
Andy gave the team intrusions on continuing their dominating
ways, but the Warriors showed why they are the second place
team and struck early in the third and gained momentum from
there. They came out hitting hard and often this threw the
team off a bit, but they did not give up Matthew Szabo saw a
flurry of shots in the third period he did his best but
Stratford was on a roll the second goal was just lucky and
the third was a bad bounce the fourth was an empty net goal.
Mathew played a good game making many incredible saves to
keep his team in the game early on, also Tyler Gills on
defense had an out standing game as well did Austin Cooper.
The teams forward lines where great at their for checking
and back checking in this game. Cole Dodge despite his small
stature showed the Warriors he was not afraid of taking a
hit.
Final Score
4-2 for Stratford.
