Sarnia vs SSE London
January 10, 2008
The Jr.
Sting played the game of the season against SSE London in
regular game action on Thursday January 10th. The
SSE came out strong and fast at the Sting but the boys held
their ground playing a tight checking game and being the
first to the puck. There was no scoring in the first period
the Sting were not without their chances the SSE goalie kept
their team in the game.
The SSE had more shots on net in the first but Mat Szabo was
on his game. In the second period the boys had one just
slide by the SSE goalie and that was the turning point in
the game. It gave the Sting the momentum and they won the
second period by only allowing two shots on net by SSE
London. The first goal was scored by Richard McIntosh and
assisted by Strom Astolfi.
The second goal came in the third period with hard work and
determination by Keith Manery who was assisted by Rory Jones
the third goal came from Cole Dodge and was assisted by Owen
Gibson the fourth goal came from Colin Osler and was
assisted by Storm Astolfi.
Special mention goes to Jordan Pavey even though Jordan
wasn’t on the score sheet he was on fire he was involved in
every play from fore checking to laying the body to his
opponents. Mention also goes to Austin Cooper who had a
great game. The defensive core is what held the team in the
first period. In the third you could see the frustration in
the other team. They did manage to put one past Mat with
only three minutes left on the clock. With the final score
being 4-1 for the Jr. Sting.
