The Sarnia Major Atoms MD team took on
Woodstock Navy Vets in Woodstock on Saturday January 19th in
regular game league action. The team took on a bit of a
different look as coach Andy switched up some of the lines
to give the boys a feel of what its like to play forward and
defense as we make a run for the playoffs.
The team came out a bit slow with the
change in the lines, only four shots were registered on net
and the defense held Woodstock to zero shots, but Jordan
Pavey did find the back of the net in the first period and
he was assisted by Tyler Gillis and Keith Manery.
The only scoring in the second period
came from Chris Mullholand, unassisted as he won the face
off deep in the Woodstock end and went end to end and put
the puck past the Woodstock net minder.
In the third period, Owen Gibson got
his first goal of the year and that opened the flood gates
as Cole Dodge put the next two in and Rory Jones stepped in
from the blue line and put one past Woodstock to make the
final score six to zero. Owen's goal was assisted by Richard
McIntosh, Cole's goals were assisted by Chris Mullholand,
Rory Jones. The second goal by Cole was assisted by Richard,
and Rory's goal was assisted by Keith Manery.
Although Mat Szabo did not see many
shots on net, he was solid when he needed to be.
