Sarnia vs West London Hawks
January 23, 2008
The Major Atoms played recently in London
against the number one team in London on January 23rd. The
team came out strong and showed the West London Hawks that
they came to play and the Jr. Sting quickly took the led
with an early goal by Jack Chapman and he was assisted by
Storm Astolfi and Colin Osler. But West London came back and
got one of there own. The Sting did manage to go toe to toe
with West London throughout the first period and the shots
on net where even. The Sting continued to play strong threw
most of the second period but London did find the back of
the net with a bullet from the top of the circle. The third
period however was a different story.
Trying to keep pace with such a fast
skating team was beginning to take it's toll. West London
got a freak goal by shooting the put out from behind the net
and it hit off the net minder, Noah Melanson's stick and
went in the net. Then it was a total break down from there
on in and London found the back of the net again. Coach Andy
pulled Noah out for one shift to calm him down and put Mat
in but he did not receive any help as well and one went past
him as well and the team finished the game with a loss of
six to one.
Sarnia vs London North
January 24, 2008
The Majors Atoms played host to London
North on January 24th at Germain Arena in what was a back
and forth game. The team played a strong game through out
most of the three periods but possibly playing back to back
games with third place on the line was tiring them out.
London found the net first but the Jr. Sting came right back
and got one from Richard McIntosh who was assisted by team
captain Christopher Mulollhand and the game remained tied at
the end of the first period.
The teams second goal came in the second period chasing down
the London North team after they had taken the led again
tying things up where Storm Astolfi, he was assisted by
Colin and Jack and that is how the second period ended. In
the third period London North seemed to pick up strength
from a puck that was left lying in the crease and with that
they then took the led and never looked back they would find
the back of the net one more time and the final score was
5-3. Cole Dodge did pick up a loose puck and score one in
the third he was assisted by Jordan Pavey and Chris
Mulholland. There where however some bright spots as Trevor
Foresten and Austin Cooper continue to dominate in there own
end and I must mention Jordan who continues to make things
happen out there on the ice. Mat Szabo played a strong game
as well.
