The Sarnia Jr Sting Midgets went to the semi-finals in tournament action in Leamington recently.

In their first game they went up against Saugeen Shores and took the win with a final score of 4 - 2.   Action was intense in the first period with neither side scoring.  In the second Saugeen scored and took the 1 - 0 lead heading into the third.  In the third period the flood gates opened for the Sting as Andrew Blokzyl scored first assisted by Chris Moore.  Blokzyl scored his second goal unassisted just :08 seconds later.  Jamie Schieman earned a point when he dumped one in assisted by Kyle Solness, then Blokzyl scored his third for the hat trick and to put the Sting up 4 - 1.  JD Gaulin and Cam Waters assisted on the final goal.  With 1:08 left on the clock Saugeen put one in but it wasn't enough as the Sting took the win with a final score of 4 - 2.  Mitch Core was the winning netminder for the Sting.

Game 2 wasn't as successful as Southpoint shut them out with a final score of 4 - 0.

Game 3 saw the Sting go up against Lasalle and turn the tables once again to take the win with a score of 4 - 1.  Adam Marshall scored assisted by JD Gaulin and Kyle Solness to put the Sting up 1 - 0 after the first period.  In the second Sean Smith scored an unassisted goal.  Lasalle put one in with :50 seconds left in the period to narrow the Sting lead to 2 - 1.

Insurance goals in the third by Andrew Blokzyl from Cam Waters and Joe DelBen and Chris Moore's unassisted goal gave the Sting the win with a final score of 4 - 1. Mitch Core was in net for the win.
With a 2 - 1 record it was enough to move to the semi's.

In the semi final game against Grimsby the Sting were taken by surprised when Grimsby scored 3 quick goals near the end of the first period to take a 3 - 0 lead.  In the second Grimsby added 3 more goals and and took a 6 - 0 lead before Sam Murray scored with :51 seconds left on the clock to put the Sting on the score sheet.  Assisting on Murray's goal was Sean Smith.

Third period action the Sting continued to play hard as Andrew Blokzyl scored the Sting's second goal assisted by Cam Waters, but the Grimsby team kept up the pressure and added one more to finish the game taking the win and sending the Sting home with a final score of 7 - 2.
