Jr. Sting Minor MD-Atoms Lose to Oakridge Aeros

The Jr. Sting minor MD Atoms lost
10-2 against the Oakridge Aeros in Forest City hockey league
action.
The Jr. Sting started the game with
some hard checking and they were playing some excellent defense.
Their power play opportunity early in the game also saw them get
some good scoring chances but the Aero’s goalie made some good
saves. Midway through the period the Sting took a couple of
penalties and the Aeros made them count to take a 2-0 lead. Near
the end of the period, the Sting lost their focus and within a 1
minute span the Aero’s had taken a 4-0 lead.
Sarnia tried to regroup in the
second when the Sting forced a scramble in front of the Aero’s
net and Ryan Greenaway scored to make it 4-1. The Aeros came
right back catching the Sting off guard to score two unanswered
goals 1 minute later to make it 6-1. The Jr. Sting seemed to get
their composure back midway through the second period and went
back to hitting hard with Lucas Cicchelli making some good
saves. The period ended 7-1 for the Aeros.
The third period saw Sarnia play
better but they just couldn’t get any breaks. Cameron Orrange
was able to shorten the Aero’s lead by driving in off a face-off
in the Aero’s end to make it 8-2. Sarnia continued to play hard
until the end of the period with the game ending 10-2 in favour
of the Aero’s.
The Jr. Sting’s next game is against
the West London on Friday December 21st @ 7:00pm at the
Clearwater Arena.
