Jr. Sting Minor MD Atoms Lose Steam
versus Division Leader
February 16, 2008
The Jr. Sting minor MD Atoms hosted
the division leading North London Nationals, the second time in
two days at Clearwater arena and lost 8-0 in Forest City hockey
league action.
After a tough game the previous
night, the Jr Sting knew they had a challenge ahead of them
since they were short players but they came out aggressive
early. The Nationals were caught off guard as the Sting made
some hard hits. Eric Lange made some awesome saves to keep the
game at 0-0 but as the period came to an end, the Sting lost a
bit of their focus and North London scored two goals in the last
minute and a half to end the period 2-0.
The Sting didn’t give up and the
defense played the Nationals well, not allowing them to get
close and if they did, Lange closed the door to keep the game
within reach. The Nationals were able to extend their lead
mid-way through the period in a scramble in front of the Sting
net to make it 3-0. As the period came to a close, the Sting
being short handed began to show as play began to shift to the
Sting end. The period ended 3-0.
The third period was all Nationals
as the steam in the Sting train began to run out. Even though
they made a valiant effort, the Nationals controlled the game
and were able to score 5 unanswered goals to end the game 8-0. |
