Jr. Sting Minor MD Atoms Travel to London
to Play the Nationals
February 26, 2008
The Jr. Sting minor MD Atoms
traveled to London to play the division leading North London
Nationals for the third time in four games and lost 10-0 in
Forest City hockey league action.
From the get-go, Sarnia wasn’t going
to get any breaks in this game, when 1-minute into the game,
London dumped the puck towards the net and it hit a skate to
give the Nationals a 1-0 lead. The Jr. Sting had a power play
opportunity during the period but couldn’t capitalize and the
Nationals seemed to have the puck drop their way with the period
ending 3-0 for London.
The Jr. Sting turned it up a notch
in the second by digging for the puck in the corners and hitting
hard. Eric Lange came up big in the period and the defense
played the Nationals well so they didn’t have any good scoring
chances. London was able to extend their lead to 4-0 to end the
second.
The third period continued to see
the breaks not go Sarnia’s way. The Nationals extended their
lead to 5-0 on a rebound that the Sting couldn’t clear and a
deflection off a stick made it 6-0, midway through the period.
The Jr. Sting continued to dig hard and play physical but got
into penalty trouble late and lost their steam in the last two
minutes to allow London to score four unanswered goals to end it
10-0. |
