Jr. Sting Minor MD Atoms Lose Hard Played
Battle
The Jr. Sting minor MD Atoms
traveled to London to play the West London Hawks and lost 3-0 in
Forest City hockey league action.
The Jr. Sting started the game a bit
slow after their 1 hour travel to the rink. The West London
teamed kept the action in the Sarnia zone but as the period
grew, the Sting began moving the puck and started to get some
good scoring chances. The period ended 0-0.
The second period saw some good
hockey being played and both teams geared their play up a notch
as the action got more aggressive and some hard hits being made.
Lucas Cicchelli played an important role in keeping the Sting in
the game with some great saves to keep the Hawks off the
scoreboard. The Jr. Sting’s offense grew stronger as the period
went on but they couldn’t get it by the West London goaltender
and the period ended 0-0.
The last 15 minutes of the game saw
a hard working Sting team. They started the period killing a
penalty successfully and digging hard in the corners for the
puck. Five minutes into the period, West London caught Sarnia
off guard to take the lead 1-0. Sarnia did get a power play
opportunity but the breaks were not going they way and they
couldn’t tie it up. With four minutes to play, the West London
was able to extend their lead when Sarnia couldn’t get it out of
their zone and in a scramble in front of the net the Hawks took
a 2-0 lead. With Sarnia’s goalie pulled the Hawks got an open
net goal to end the game 3-0. |
