Jr Sting Minor MD-Atoms Lose to the
Nationals
The Jr.Sting minor MD-Atoms battled
hard but lost steam to lose 8-0 against the North London
Nationals in Forest City hockey league action.
The first period saw the Jr.Sting
play the division leading Nationals head to head. The defensive
teams of Coats/Woods, Pagotto/Boersma and Wadden/Lange forced
the Nationals to the boards and kept them away from the net.
Sarnia had a power play opportunity in the period but couldn’t
capitalize to take the lead. Cicchelli was able to make some
keys saves to keep the game 0-0 after 1 period of play.
The first half of the second period
saw the Jr.Sting continue their defensive stance with Cicchelli
making some excellent saves At the mid-point of the period,
North London managed to break the Sarnia wall to take a 1-0
lead. With the game at 1-0, the Sting seem to lose their focus
and by the end of the period the score was 4-0.
Sarnia seemed to get some of their
composure back in the third but the Nationals goalie closed the
door on any scoring opportunities. With the Nationals gained
confidence, they began to force the play into the Sting zone,
with the Sting unable to clear the puck. Noah Caverly was able
to make some excellent saves but the Nationals continued to
pressure the Jr Sting hard. With the Nationals getting two late
period goals, the game ended 8-0.
