Home-At-Home Series Against Warriors
The Sarnia Jr.Sting played their
second game of a home-at-home series with the Stratford Warriors
and lost 13-1 in Forest City Hockey Minor Atom MD2 league action
on Sunday afternoon.
Stratford caught the Sting on their
heels in the first four minutes of the game as the Warriors took
a 2-0 lead. By the middle part of the second period, Sarnia
began to get their legs and put pressure on the Warriors. Play
was end to end but the Warriors were able to extend their lead
to 3-0. The Orrange,Greenaway and Speed line were able to catch
the Warriors deep in the Sting end and drive down the ice to
allow Cameron Orrange to score before the period ended, to make
it 3-1.
The Warriors caught the Sting off
guard early in the second and were able to make it 4-1. Sarnia
continued to fight and the Wardell, Sebben and Jordan line began
to move the puck well and had some excellent scoring
opportunities against the Stratford goalie. At the 4 minute
mark, Sarnia lost their focus and allowed 3 goals in a two
minute span with the period ending 7-1 in favour of Stratford.
The third period showed a more
aggressive Sting team with the Sting moving the puck better and
getting more scoring opportunities. Lucas Cicchelli made some
great saves in net but with the Sting playing more offensively
in the third, allowing the Warriors to get a lot of second shot
opportunities. The third ended 13-1.
The Jr.Sting’s next game is Tuesday
November 6th at 6pm, when they travel to the London to play
Oakridge.
