Jr.Sting MD-Minor Atoms Lose in Final Seconds

The Sarnia Jr.Sting Minor MD Atoms
lost a heart breaker to the Oakridge Aero’s 4-3 in Forest City
Hockey league Action.
Sarnia started the period
aggressively and forced the play into the London end causing the
Aero’s to cough-up the puck with some good hits. With two
minutes gone in the period, Kasen Sebben scored off Ryan
Greenaway and Nolan Coats passes to take the lead 1-0. London
tried to retaliate but Eric Lange came up big in net to keep
them off the board. The period ended 1-0 for the Jr.Sting.
The second period began with
end-to-end play from both teams. Again Eric Lange made some key
saves because the defensive pairs of MacDonald/Coats and Pagatto/Boersma
never allowed the Aero’s to get any second opportunities. The
Aero’s continued to force the play through out the period and it
ended 1-0 for the Jr.Sting.
London started the third period
working hard for the tying goal and they tied it in the first
minute of play of the third period on a screen shot. With
momentum on their side, the Aero’s score a minute and a half
later to take a 2-1 lead in a scramble in front of the Sting
net. The Jr.Sting did not give up and were able to kill off a
penalty to keep the game at 2-1. Mid-way through the period all
the hard work paid off when Cody Nicolaisen scored on a
break-away to tie the game at 2-2. Sarnia pushed it up a notch
and one and a half minutes later Christiano Pagotto scored to
give Sarnia a 3-2 lead with assists going to Cameron Orrange and
Aleah Boersma. Both teams wouldn’t give up and pressed hard.
With one minute left to play, The Aero’s pulled their goalie and
with an extra attacker were able to tie the game at 3-3. Going
for the win London immediately forced the play into the Sarnia
end and in a scramble in front of the Sarnia net they were able
to score the game winner with 11 seconds left in the game. The
game ended 4-3 for London.

London

The Sarnia Jr.Sting Minor MD Atoms
lost 12-0 to North London in Forest City Hockey league Action.
Sarnia came out a bit sluggish and
allowed London to make it 1-0 early in the period. The Sting
pushed it up a notch and began to play London head to head and
they didn’t allow the Nationals to set-up any plays. London was
able to make it 2-0 before the period ended.
London started the second period
with a goal that bounced off a Nationals player to make it 3-0.
Lucas Cicchelli made some excellent saves but North London
continue to pressure the Jr.Sting and force play into the Sarnia
end. The Sting did have some good scoring opportunities but the
Nationals goalie put up a wall. The period ended 7-0 in favour
of the Nationals.
The third period was similar to the
previous two but the Sting continued to work hard. They began to
move the puck better and get more scoring opportunities but they
couldn’t capitalize. The game ended 12-0 for North London.
The Jr.Stings next game is on Friday
November 16th at the Clearwater Arena at 7pm versus
West London.
