Jr.Sting Minor MD-Atoms Fall to Oakridge Aeros

The Sarnia Jr.Sting Minor MD Atoms had their home opener losing to London’s Oakridge Aeros 11-2.

The Aero’s came to play and quickly forced the Jr. Sting to play defensively right from the get go. London opened the scoring two minutes into the first period to make it 1-0. The Jr Sting played well defensively and Lucas Cicchelli made some keys saves to keep the Sting in the game. With the Aero’s continued pressure, they were able to extend their lead to 2-0 with 3 minutes to play in the first. The Minor Atoms fought back a minute later when Eric DeSena made an excellent pass to give Kasen Sebben a break away, who put it home to make it 2-1 to end the first period.

The second period was all Aero’s and play was mainly in the Sting’s end with the Aero’s not letting the Jr Sting gain any rhythm or momentum. The Aero’s scored six unanswered goals to make it 8-1 at the end of the second period.

The third period started like the second ended with London continuing to control the game. The Jr.Sting continued to work hard and final broke the scoring drought mid-way through the game when Brody Jordan and Vanessa Wardell set up Daniel Mussio to make it 11-2. The Jr.Sting finally found their rhythm but the damage was done and the game ended 11-2.

The Jr.Sting’s next game is Tuesday Oct 23^rd in London at the Carling Arena versus the North London Nationals.
