Sarnia Jr. Minor Midget MD vs West London
Hawks

The Sarnia Jr. Sting Minor Midget MD traveled up Highway 402 to
play the tough West London Hawks in a hard hitting game Sunday
night.
The Sting went up 1-0 in the first period on a nice goal from
the tenacious Josh Warner assisted by Mike Nelson and Dave
Sparks. Neither team let up in the second as the hits were many
and the penalty boxes on both sides were full. The Sting kept up
the pressure and got their second goal on a rocket to the back
of the twine by Kody Ryan, assists going to Mike Ravenhorst and
Mat Ward, who both were playing an inspired and gritty
game. Sparks made a nice play keeping the puck in the Hawks
end, took two strides to the net and let a shot go that beat the
Hawks goal tender to make it 3-0, assists going to Eli Stewart
and Corey Millar. Sarnia started the third period short handed
but continued to play their game and scored their 4th goal off
the stick of Sparks (who was on fire) helped out by Scott
MacEachern and Warner.
Ben Johnson, Sarnia's goaltender, came up with two big saves
down two men with two minutes remaining to earn the shutout.
Sarnia won this one 4-0. Sarnia remains unbeaten in 5 games and
looks forward to playing the North London Nationals on Halloween
night in London to determine first place. |
