Novice Tier 1 beat SSE Wild at Home

 December 15, 2007

The Saturday home game for the Novice Tier 1 was against SSE Wild and it was one of their best performances of the year.  The boys came away with a big 4-3 win.

Early in the first, Sarnia was all over the Wild creating a number of scoring chances.  Cameron Adam struck first blood with a nifty backhander, assisted by Ryan Brown and Jameson Hart.  SSE were able to get that one back with a power play goal.

In the second period, Sarnia went on a power play of there own and with the crowd chanting “GO STING GO” led by Rick Schroeter, Max Steeves buried it in the net assisted by Dante Fuoco and Cameron Rannie.  Shortly, after this the boys came close once again but unfortunately ran it off the post.  Before the period SSE were able to score 2 of their own and led 3-2 going into the 3rd period.

The 3rd period belonged to the Sting.  They were able to tie the game with a funny shot that hit a Wild leg but found its way in.  Nic Discanno was credited with goal assists going to Brayden Groulx and Dylan Schroeter.  A couple of penalties in a row and the Sting found themselves in a very familiar 5 on 3 situation.  However, the boys played defensively well and Henrik Lindhout made some beautiful saves to keep it a draw.  Surviving being shorthanded, Sarnia continued pressuring the Wild and finally Dylan Schroeter passed off to Nic Discanno who skated in and made a good deke and scored the game winning goal.

Great win boys!  Effective fore check, good defense and solid goaltending, all reasons for the win.
