Novice Tier 1 vs. SSE Wild

January 16, 2008

The Novice Tier 1 team travelled to London to take on the SSE Wild this past Wednesday night.

In the 1st period the boys came out flying keeping most of the play in the Wild zone.  Max Steeves scored the first goal, assisted by Cameron Rannie and Dante Fuoco.  Not long after Nic Discanno took advantage of a terrible Wild line change and walked in alone on the goalie and scored unassisted to make it 2-0.  SSE responded with a goal of their own just before Max Steeves scored his second of the game with a back hander assisted by Cameron Rannie.  It was 3-1 at the end of the 1st period and looked like the team was heading for a convincing win.

However, this is not how the story ended.  SSE would take control in the 2nd and 3rd periods, scoring 6 unanswered goals and eventually winning the game 7-3.

Novice Tier 1 vs. Woodstock

January 19, 2008

On Saturday afternoon the Novice Tier 1 team went to Southwood arena in Woodstock to play.

The Sting got on the scoreboard first about half way into the 1st period, From Ryan Brown, assisted by Cameron Adam.  The score would remain this way going into the 2nd period.

In the 2nd period Woodstock were able to take advantage of a power play situation and tie the game at one apiece.  Later in the second period, Sarnia had there own power play, a 5 on 3 in fact, but were unable to find the back of the net.

Woodstock scored early in the 3rd to take a 2-1 lead, however, the boys were able to tie it up with Cameron Adam sliding a rebound past the goalie, assisted by Ryan Brown.  At 9:08 of the period while being shorthanded Woodstock took the lead a second time, making it 3-2 and that is the way the score would stay at the end.

Lets stay hungry boys!  Monday we visit Port Huron to take on the Flags in an exhibition game.
