Sting Novice Tier 1 Get a Big
Win Against
LMHA
November 24,
2007
The Novice
Tier 1 team were at home at
Germain
arena this past Saturday and
played an excellent game against
LMHA Thunder and came away with
a 5-4 win.
The Sting
opening the scoring 30 seconds
into the game as Cameron Adam
made a fine break out pass to
Ryan Brown who skated between
the 2 defensemen and made nice
shot to go up 1-0. The boys
carried on the momentum the very
next shift as Brayden Groulx
banged the second goal in,
assists going to Max Steeves and
Cameron
Rannie. Meanwhile, back
in our end Patrick Kelly made a
great save to keep the score
2-0. The Sting went up by 3
with some hard work from Max
Steeves and Brayden Groulx who
managed to make a one handed
pass right through the crease to
Cameron
Rannie who scored in the
gaping net. LMHA did get 1 back
before the end of the period.
The second
period saw only one goal that
was from LMHA. This was
certainly not due to lack of
chances just good goaltending
from both sides. It was
3-2
after 2.
In the 3rd,
things started to open up
a bit. Early in the period, we
had our traditional 2 man short
situation, which the boys were
able to successfully kill off.
LMHA later put 2 more goals on
the board and led the game for a
short time 4-3. The Sting tied
it up however, from a point shot
from Brett Allardyce, which took
a funny hop and found its
way
into the net. Tied at 4-4
\, the Sting
were
in penalty trouble once again
but seem to control most of the
play while being short a man.
This included a breakaway goal
from Nic
Discanno, assisted by Allardyce
and Groulx, which also ended up
being the game winner.
Great game
guys! You played well in all
aspects of the game, good
offence, solid defence and
fantastic goaltending. That’s a
recipe for success….Keep it up
boys!
