The Sarnia Jr. Sting
Novice Tier 1 were in action at the
Germain arena October 13th
for their first regular season game
versus SSE Wild.
The first period
opened with both teams full on energy.
SSE struck first at the 9:00 minute
marker. However, Sarnia tied it up
47seconds later as Cameron Adam one
timed a shot from the slot from a
perfect centring pass by Brayden Groulx.
Later, in the period Sarnia had a power
play where they continued to press but
just couldn’t put it in. The Sting went
up 2-1 as Max Steeves buried his shot
from good feed from Nash Nienhuis. SSE
tied the game in the last minute to end
the 1st 2-2. This period
belonged to the Sting as the controlled
most of the play.
The second period saw
a bit of a breakdown in the defensive
play of the Sting. SSE was able to
capitalize on their opportunities by
scoring 4 unanswered goals, making it
6-2 after two periods.
In the 3rd
period both teams started to look a
little tired. Although unable to score
any goals, the Sting did successfully
kill a 5 on 3 shorthanded situation,
with special mention to Jacob Williams
who did well on the PK.
The game ended 8-2 in
favour of SSE Wild, however, the score
was not a good indication of the game or
the boys effort. Keep your chins up
boys…we will get them next time.
