Sarnia Jr. Sting Novice Tier 1 Draw West London in a Barn Burner!

 October 20, 2007

The Novice Tier 1 team played the 1st of three games this weekend on Saturday Oct. 20th against West London and came out with a dramatic 6-6 draw.

Sarnia opened the scoring in the first period from a goal off Max Steeves stick, assists going to line mates Cameron Rannie and Dante Fuoco.  West London stormed back however, and scored 2 goals themselves including a shorthanded marker.  Sarnia pressed West London and had a few more glorious chances but were unable to solve the opposing goalie. The score was 2-1 for West London.

The second period brought more action and a continuation of this see-saw battle.  First, Sarnia tied the score with a fantastic individual effort from Nicolas Discanno.  Following this, Dante Fuoco popped in the go ahead goal from linemates Max Steeves and Cameron Rannie.  Momentum began to shift in the second half of the period as West London were able to score 2 more goals and regain the lead going into the 3rd period, with a tally of 4-3.

The third period was very exciting as the fans at the arena can attest to.   Cameron Rannie tied the game at 4-4 with assists going to Dante Fuoco and Brayden Groulx.  The tie did not last long as West London continued with there ability to score in 2’s, regaining the lead a third time, making it 6-4.  The boys did not give up though.  Ryan Brown scored a great goal by putting in the top shelf where the peanut butter is kept. Assists going to Cameron Adam and Jameson Hart.  Sarnia continued there press and were forcing the play, you could almost smell another goal coming.  Their hard work paid off as West London were forced to take a penalty late in the game.  During the power play, in dramatic fashion Jacob Williams was able to tie the game 6-6, with assists going to Nash Nienhuis and Dylan Schroeter.  With time ticking down Sarnia were still controlling the play and were inches away from winning it as they rang one off the post!

The result 6-6, and perhaps the teams best played game up to now.  Super effort by the whole time!  Lets continue with this great play for the next upcoming games.
