Pre-Season Game One
Monday September 17, 2007
The Sarnia Jr.
Sting played the
Mooretown Storm Monday night in a
pre-season opener. Both teams were in high
gear and ready to play hockey!
The first goal
was some great stick handling from Ryan
Brown in the left corner and made a good
centering pass in front of the net, Cameron
Adam one timed it into the cage.
After a few
Mooretown goals,
our goalie Patrick
Kelly, made a beautiful glove
save off a hard
Mooretown shot from Pageau. This
save was well appreciated by the Sarnia fans
as you could hear the roar from the stands.
Later Max
Steeves made glorious pass to Cameron
Rannie who found
the twine and tied the game up 3-3!
Ryan Brown
skated towards the net and dumped it off to
Cameron Adam who was parked on the right
side of the net and slide it in.
Sarnia's
final goal came from some hard work.
Jameson Hart banged in his first from
another centering pass from Max Steeves.
Scoring for
Mooretown was
led by Jared Pageau with 4 goals;
Brenna
Mckegan and
Elijah Contreras each added a pair of
goals. Garrett Miller and Daniel Wellington
scored singles.
Mckegan, Wellington,
Cade Robbins,
Jacinda
Buglar and
Hayden MacDonald offered assists.
Ben Dupont and
Emma McCornmick
shared goaltending duties. Final Score 10 –
4 Mooretown.
Sunday, September 23rd, 2007
The Sarnia Jr.
Sting Novice Tier 1 had their second
exhibition game of the season on Sunday
against Strathroy and turned in an excellent
effort winning 10-1.
The first period
saw little scoring but was not short on
action. There was some exceptional plays
both offensively & defensively by both
teams, including a Sarnia shot that hit the
crossbar, which had some fans off their
seats. Hats off the the
Sting goalie
Hendrik Lindhout,
who made some tremendous
saves. Although in a bit of penalty
trouble the Sting were up 1-0 after the
first.
In the second
period Sarnia started lighting it up scoring
4 goals despite being in penalty trouble
again, including a shorthanded marker. At
the end of the second the score was 5-1.
In the third, 5
more unanswered goals help finish off
Strathroy 10-1. But more importantly, the
team showed some great passing and good
hustle in there defensive zone coverage.
All around the team played very well and the
win serves as a good confidence booster.
