Sarnia Jr. Sting Novice Tier 2 MD go 0-2 on the weekend

January 26,2008

First game of the weekend saw the Sting face off against the Oakridge Aeros.
The Sting were able to get on the board first with an unassisted goal by Nolan DeGurse.  The Aeros would come right back and tie the game at 1-1 just over a minute later.  The visitors would continue to extend their lead in the second with 3 goals. Down by a score of 4-1, the Sting would make the game close with two goals of their own in the third.  Joel Pavey would get Sarnia's second goal, assisted by Justin Houle and Ryan Gould.  Less than a minute later, the home team would find the back of the again.  Matt Hunt scored, assisted by Lucas Knowles and Carson Payne.  Oakridge would go on to score 1 more to give them a final score of 5-3.

January 27, 2008

Just over 24 hours later, the boys would play host to the league leading London Devilettes.  Jakob Knowles had the start between the pipes for the home team and faced a total of 22 shots.

This was an exciting game to watch as both teams played well.  The game remained scoreless until 10:22 in the third period, when a London player was able to put one past Knowles for the 1-0 lead. The Sting would continue "to buzz" the London net but were unable to get the equalizer.  Final score 1-0 Devilettes.

Great effort boys as you took on the 2 top teams in the league.  The Sting are on the road Wednesday, January 30, when they travel to Nichols Arena to take on the SSE Wild.  Game time is 7:00 pm.
