January 30,
2008
Wednesday
evening saw the Sting take to the road
for a game against SSE Wild at Nichols
Arena in London. Jakob Knowles had the
start and faced a total of 19 shots.
Carson Payne
"lit the lamp" first with a great effort
around the Wild's net and was able to
put the puck past the goaltender for a
1-0 lead with 15.7 seconds remaining in
the first period. Joel Pavey assisted
on the play. The Wild would respond
with the equalizer early in the second.
Matt Hunt would put his team up by 2-1
in the latter part of the second.
Collecting the assist was Lucas
Knowles. The Sting would increase the
lead 3-1early in the third with another
goal from Carson Payne. Assist was
credited to Matt Hunt. The Wild would
continue to pressure the Sting and were
rewarded for their efforts by scoring 2
unanswered goals to tie the game at 3.
Both teams had scoring opportunities in
the dying seconds of the game but both
Knowles and the Wild goalie shut the
door. Final score 3-3.
Good work
boys in the game and let's get them next
time!!!!!.
Next action
for the Sting is February 9th & 10th,
when they are participating in a
tournament in Blyth. Best of luck and
work hard to bring home the
championship.
