Sarnia Jr.
Sting Novice MD Tier 2 allowed one to
slip away
Sunday
afternoon saw the Sarnia Jr. Sting
Novice MD Tier 2 team play host to the
Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets at Germain
Arena.
Woodstock
would get on the board first, with a
goal early in the first period. Joel
Pavey would tie the game at 1, just over
3 minutes later. Collecting assists
were Curtis Marks and Justin Houle.
Sarnia would out shoot Woodstock in the
2nd and would have the 2-1 lead heading
into the 3rd. Getting Sarnia's second
goal was Lucas Knowles, assisted by Ben
Rutledge and Matt Hunt. The Sting would
continue to "pound the Woodstock net"
but would be denied, until Nolan DeGurse was
able to put his team up by 2 early in
the 3rd, with a nice goal, assists going
to Dawson Young and Brett Brydges. The
Jr. Navy Vets would not sit back and
began to take it to the Sting with 2
goals of their own. The tying goal been
scored on the power play.
Although the
Sting out shot the visiting team 24-16,
they were unable to get the find the
back of the net in the third in order to
collect the win. Final score 3-3 tie.
Good effort boys!!!!!
